Rev. from DVL have announced that they are to disband on March 31st.
The Kyushu based idol group was originally formed in 2003 as DVL
(which stands for Dance Vocal Love) and became Rev. from DVL in 2011
with them expanding their activities following a major label deal in
2014. They went on to release 7 singles in the next 3 years, commencing
with “LOVE-arigatou-” in April 2014, and ending with their most recent
(and now final) single, “Vampire”, in December 2016. The singles
regularly charted in the top 10 of the Oricon chart, and ensured that
the group attracted fans all over Japan. They are particularly known
for Kanna Hashimoto who was described by many as a “Once-in-a-life-time
Idol” after a photograph of her appeared in a magazine; Kanna has now
started a solo career, releasing her first single “Sailor Fuku to
Kikanjuu” in February 2016.
On their website the management say the suddenness of the decision
was a surprise, but that the girls had discussed it many times and
decided that they wanted to pursue other work or education opportunities
at this time in their lives. The group will release a Greatest Hits
album and hold dissolution concerts in Tokyo and Fukuoka (their main
base) at the end of March.
